What is eDesign?

eDesign is the latest way of working with a professional interior designer to decorate your home. The main difference is that instead of meeting in person, everything takes place “virtually” via the internet. A convenient, efficient & cost-effective process by which both the artistry & business of Interior Design takes place. And since there is absolutely no contact between us & you, it’s also the healthiest & safest way to work together. Additionally, it allows you to work with some of the best designers no matter where in the world you live. In our case, it means that you no longer need to live within our service area of New York City, Long Island & Westchester. If you do, that’s OK too as we can still collaborate remotely if you desire… but the point is that, you don’t have to be local to us.

How does eDesign work?

Easier than you think! Utilizing a combination of our cloud-based eDesign platform & familiar apps like Pinterest & Zoom, collaboration is quick, easy, private & secure. An all-around user-friendly experience with essentially little to nothing new to learn. Accessible from any smartphone, tablet or desktop computer.

For whom is eDesign the PERFECT choice?

eDesign is quickly becoming a Popular Choice of Most Clients! It’s ideal for those looking to get that “designer” look in their home, but at a price point that’s more affordable than hiring an in-person designer. It’s also for those too busy to go shopping from store-to-store and website-to-website searching for the perfect decor. And for those afraid of making mistakes, it eases their minds by helping them “get it right” the first time… saving even more time & money! And now, with the “new normal” way of many working remotely & shopping virtually from home, most are more comfortable with, and actually prefer, doing more things online. Besides, who wouldn’t enjoy saving money & time to have their home professionally decorated, all the while from the comfort of their living room… in their pajamas!

Why should I pay for eDesign when local & online stores offer “design services” for free?

Simple… Not all “design services” are created equal. Most of the “free” services have significant limitations and work in favor of the retailer… NOT You! You can’t vet the designer assigned to you, you don’t know their style or if their experience can meet your needs. The goal of the “free” services is to sell more  of the retailer’s furnishings and increase their decorator’s commission. The cost of that “free” design service doesn’t seem so free anymore.

When you sign on with Sorell Interiors, you’ll know exactly with whom you’ll be working, our Principle Designer, Doreen Amico-Sorell, and we’re more than happy to share with you her credentials, experience & past projects. We’re also 100% independent of any retail affiliations. Therefore, we work for YOU! And finally, for a single design fee, you get to select furnishings from anywhere… no restrictions… no limitations!

Is there anything else I should know?

At Sorell Interiors, we pride ourselves on being open & honest. So, in addition to all the good that eDesign has to offer, we also want you to be aware that it may not always be the best option.

One of the primary reasons eDesign is more cost effective is because YOU are an active member of the project team. It is you who will be measuring your living space and providing before photos & videos. It is also you who will be purchasing, accepting delivery of and setting up all furnishings. If painting is involved, you will either be doing it yourself or hiring your own painter. If any construction is to be performed, you will need to have your eDesign “concept” plans translated by an architect, acquire any permits, and hire your own contractor. However, experience has shown that the majority of eDesign projects are not complex. So, if you’re not afraid of a little DIY, then eDesign is for you!

THE E-DESIGN PROCESS

STEP 1: INTRODUCTION

Discovery Call: Initial contact to assess the basics of your project.

  • Overall scope of what you wish to accomplish
  • Which room, or rooms, are to be designed
  • Your particular style, vision, likes/dislikes, needs or “must-haves”
  • Any furnishings you may be keeping
  • How much you’re comfortable investing (i.e. your Budget)

We will provide you with a professional evaluation of your project, review the process, establish expectations, and answer any questions you may have. If you decide eDesign is for you and would like to engage us for your project, we’ll recommend a plan (see below). Upon receipt of payment and return of a signed contract, the journey starts!

STEP 2: FORMAL ASSESSMENT & PROJECT SET-UP

Style Questionnaire: We begin by sending you a brief but thorough questionnaire for you to complete to help our team better understand your style, preferences & vision.

Measuring Guide: A professional, easy-to-follow guide to help you precisely measure your room & its structural details (i.e. windows, doors, fireplaces, etc).

Live Walk-thru & Photos: We will schedule a virtual walk-thru of your space via Zoom (or similar) & request photos be provided following this meeting

Let’s ConnectA private Pinterest Board to which you can immediately begin pinning things you like, will be created, and you will also be provided a secure login to your project on DesignFiles, our online design platform. HINT: The MORE you can share, the BETTER!

STEP 3: DESIGN PLAN CREATION & REVIEW

You Relax, We Go to Work: Upon completion, receipt and review of all the above materials, our professional design team goes to work on your plan. This part of the process takes on average between 10-14 days.

Your Plan Presented: Upon completion, you will be provided the following:

  • Concept / Mood Board: All the selected furnishings & how they look together
  • Floor Plan (to Scale): A two-dimensional (2D) “top-down” view of your room showing precise placement of all furnishings in proper proportions, assuring that everything will fit perfectly.
  • 3D-STATIC (Single Perspective) Rendering: A floor-level three-dimensional (3D) realistic view of your room, wall-paint color, window treatments & all furnishings
  • Shopping List: An itemized list of all selected furnishings with pictures, prices, clickable links (where possible) and retailer info to make purchasing easy.

Designer Follow-up: Your designer will reach out to you to follow-up on your fully-executable design plan. If everything is to your liking, just purchase the furnishings, paint the walls, install any fixtures and… you’re DONE!

If however, you have questions & would like to make changes to your plan, NO Problem! Depending upon the program purchased, you’ll have between One (1) [STANDARD Program] & Two (2) [DELUXE Program] “FREE” Design Plan Revisions included to make any changes desired. If further revisions are desired, they can be purchased separately at a nominal cost. (See “Plan Add-ons” below)

Still Not Sure?: Ask for a 3D-DYNAMIC (Multi-perspective/Movable) Rendering of your room. Available at a slight additional cost to our STANDARD Program, it’s the absolute best way of seeing your Design Plan from any angle and all places from within the room. Money well-spent as you will be left with no doubt what-so-ever as to how your room will look when finished. Even better… purchase our DELUXE Program from the outset, where it’s included at a reduced rate.

STEP 4: YOU’RE NEVER ALONE

Support During Install: At Sorell Interiors we want to see you achieve the living space of your dreams… no matter how much or how little you spend. This is why we continue to with you during your DIY phase of the project. Call it “Goof-Proof” assurance. We’re available to help with styling tips, implementation guidance, and to answer any additional questions that may develop.

Our STANDARD Program includes four (4) weeks of follow-up and the DELUXE Program, six (6) weeks. But we also understand that not everything goes as planned and it may take longer than expected for you to implement your plan. Hence, additional follow-up time can be purchased, if needed. (See “Plan Add-ons” below)
